My journey in the financial services industry began in 1997 with a part-time administration role at a financial advisers while studying for my A-levels. Once I had completed them, I transitioned to a full-time position as a trainee financial adviser. Whilst driven to gain valuable experience I then completed my CII qualifications and started advising clients on their mortgage and protection needs. Many of my clients were at the earlier stages of their financial journeys seeking guidance for their first home purchases and subsequent financial milestones. As their needs evolved, so did my advisory scope and I went on to provide advice on pensions, investments and insurance to help them achieve their financial goals. In 2007, I founded PBS Financial Solutions Ltd with a vision to provide complex free Independent Financial Advice in and around Lancaster…
What do you enjoy most about your job?
People! Meeting new clients is interesting as no two are the same, they have varied backgrounds and different goals. Also, my relationships with existing clients many of whom I’ve now known for years. To have helped them in the past, plan for the financial future, and for some I’m now helping their children do the same.
What is your ‘key bit of advice’ or ‘favourite quote’?
I believe a key to freedom in life is perhaps to have three things: Health, Wealth and Time. In your earlier years wealth is difficult and money often tight. In your mid-life finding time is short due to commitments. As you get to the later stage health is not guaranteed. The difficulty is all three at the same time.
Tell me more about Paul…
I’m a huge sports enthusiast and rugby is my biggest passion, having been both a former player and junior coach at my local club, Vale of Lune RUFC. Additionally, fuelled by my son’s passion for Motorsport, I’ve also developed an interest in karting and Formula 1 over the years, even delving into the world of mechanics. To relax I enjoy travel, seeking new experiences and adventures, and not always knowing where you will be next. I’ve become a fan of food and dining, although must admit to being a terrible cook but happy to enjoy other peoples!
